What's The Beef?

Man oh man the controversy continues... The tidal wave that tallow based skin products have caused in the industry is enormous! The renaissance of an old way of doing things has enlightened the next generation of consumers. Left and right you hear about tallow based this, that, everything. There are many interests and competitors in the industry that are threatened by this shift, so naturally it's attacked, and a ton of really negative things have been said. You may have heard, but not limited to, "it will clog your pores" "there are no real benefits of rubbing beef fat on you" " it will irritate sensitive skin" Which are arguments that couldn't be farther from the truth. The compounds alone in beef tallow trump most mainstream ingredients. It is a superior fat in a multitude of ways.

Lets dive a little deeper into the FAcTs. First and foremost, not all tallow products are created equal. Just like any product, you are taking a risk. As long as you have no allergies, if you get a purely made super clean product you will watch your skin transform in front of your eyes. I is incredible what is possible when we give our body the vitamins and minerals it truly needs. Just like with anything in life, when we treat ourselves with the respect our bodies deserve, our bodies thank us in return. So whats so special about tallow?

Tallow, grassfed and finished to be specific, is one of the most nutrient dense fats on the planet. Beef Tallow is RICH in vitamins A,K,E, CLA, and a host of omega 3 and anti inflammatory properties. The difference with tallow compared to most other fats is that it is bio available. It's immediately recognized by the body and in turn is the perfect base for any healing salve that you could imagine. Now if you are vegan we totally understand and respect that. A great substitute for tallow is MANGO BUTTER. It has a similar nutrient profile but isn't near the effectiveness of beef tallow.

So the question is, Is the attack on beef tallow products for your skin validated? I would say not in the slightest. If your getting your products from a known trusted source, or rendering it yourself in a clean and safe environment, i would argue its on of the BEST fats to use for skin health. The main attacks that beef tallow find themselves a part of come from the same people who have a vested interest in chemical based skincare, and serving your family the worst possible products they can make money on. When something comes along that challenges the status quo, or starts to drain profits from a large enough corporation, the response is to attack it first. After that they will try to control it. If they can make money on the poison they will buy up the clean mom and pop companies. Unfortunately when a small company gets bought out, things are added, formulas change. Your once cherished "all natural" product is now a poison bomb. Thats why the burts bees of the world are getting a bad wrap right now. As they should, they aren't the same company with the same values anymore. Now, does that mean all beef tallow products will be good for you? NO. You should always, no matter the company, check the label to ensure you are getting what you and your family need and deserve.

Taking back your health and encouraging others to do the same is the first step in a long, happy life. When your out there in the world we live in, try to pay a little closer attention to what your body is telling you, eating, sleeping, drinking, what we put on our skin. Take a deeper dive into the label of your favorite shampoo, you may be surprised what you find when you research those chemicals. You may find a part of the reason your hormones are off, or your thyroid isn't functioning correctly. A lot of these chemicals are commonly marketed as or found in paint thinners, degreasers for restaurants, and additives to materials like yoga mats. Lol look at subway bread, tell me why there aren't only about 5 ingredients. "Eat Fresh" hahaha give me a break. Good marketing will always trick uneducated consumers.

Thankfully I think the tide is turning. More and more people everyday are making better and more informed choices on their food and lifestyle habits. We are here to support and be a part of making that shift for people. Better products, longer lives, happier humans.

Happy Monday,

Ross
